David D. Halladay
Trust Consultant

Employment Experience:

May 1995 to Present
Owner and Manager of Trustconsult. Trustconsult provides outsourcing services for individual trustees. Our major source of fee income is as a service provider for individual trustees of Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts. As a service provider, I consult with individuals and assist in the transfer of assets, set up accounting systems for individual trustees. Activities include, conducting seminars, and workshops where trustees are taught how to fund and administer their trusts. I authored the book titled "Trust Yourself." The Book illustrates a step-by-step process for managing your own Trust. I work closely with referral sources such as Attorneys, CPA's, Private Banking, Trust Sales Officers, Investment Officers, and other financial professionals, to encourage them to have their clients use the services of Trustconsult..
October 1997 to Present: Executive Director of the Salt Lake Estate Planning Council, handling all of the administrative duties of the Officers and Board of the Council.

December 1994 to May 1996
Vice President and Trust Officer over Personal Trust Business Development for Zions First National Bank. Instituted and developed a program to use market segmentation as a basis for referrals to Trust and Investment Officers. Established a Trust Salary Incentive Plan for Trust Sales Officers, and a Trust Incentive Plan for Retail and Commercial bank personnel. Organized a Trust sales program with a marketing plan and budget. First year personal goal was $150,000 in first year fees and first year fee sales were at $170,000.

1985 to December 1994
Vice President and Manager, Personal Trust Marketing and Business Development Department, Personal Trust Division, First Security Bank of Utah. Duties include management of 5 sales officers in selling personal trust products and services to the people of the State of Utah. Oversee budgets, call programs, sales, incentive programs, advertising, education and training, Estate Planning, Financial Planning, portfolio review, new account acceptance, etc.

1981 to 1985
Vice President and Manager, Orange County District Trust Office, Wells Fargo Bank N.A. Supervise all Trust operation in the Orange County area for Wells Fargo. including personnel, budgets, business development, administration, investments.

1972 to 1981
Assistant Vice President, Zions First National Bank, Salt Lake City, Utah. Supervised the business development effort for the Trust Department. Started out as Real Estate Management specialist, and earning CPM designation with the Institute of Real Estate Management and the National Association of Realtors.

 

Educational Background:

National Graduate Trust School

Graduated in 1979 from the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Intensive three year program in trust administration, investments, fiduciary law, and taxes.

Brigham Young University

Graduated in 1971 with a B.A. in Political Science with a heavy emphasis in economics, and business administration.

 

Professional Designations:

Certified Property Manager (CPM) retired

A professional designation issued by the Institute of Real Estate Management, Chicago, Ill. This designation is awarded upon the completion of three years educational experience together with three to five years work experience in the area of Property Management. The CPM trademark stands for excellence in this specialized area of Real Estate. Utah Real Estate License.

Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA)

This is a professional designation of the Institute of Certified Bankers Association. The CTFA is earned by completing a minimum of ten years experience in the Trust industry and completing a minimum of educational training both to qualify and maintain the designation. Currently inactive.

Professional and Civic Association:

Salt Lake and Provo Estate Planning Council

Past President of the Salt Lake Chapter and member for the past eleven years. Member of the Salt Lake, and Orange County chapters for fifteen years. http://www.estateplanners.org.

Utah Valley State College

Former member of the Foundation the Board of Trustees, and Past President of the Alumni Association for the College. Awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award in 2003. Experience with major gifts program and involvement in planning and executing a capital fund-raising campaign. Capital Campaign was among the top 25 in nation in 1996-97.

Primary Childrens Regional Medical Center

Member of the Alumni Planned Gifts Committee, and Past President of the Planned Gifts Council serving for three years on the Council.

International Association of Financial Planners

Past Public Relations Vice President and Member of the Board for the Salt Lake Chapter of the IAFP.
